  • MOBILE FOOD PANTRY

Once a month, we distribute mostly perishable food to 125-225 families in our community. Plymouth Heights Food Pantry typically meets on the 4th Saturday of the month. Exceptions are May (3rd Saturday), November (always the Saturday before Thanksgiving), and December (3rd Saturday) To request a ticket, contact our church secretary, Janeen, at office@phcrc.org or at 616-243-5638.

  • STRINGS ‘N THINGS

All people are welcome to come to Strings ‘n Things to learn basic sewing skills, receive encouragement to finish a project, sit and knit, crochet, or simply share in this hobby with others. Strings ‘n Things meets on the 3rd floor of the church on Tuesdays from 1:30pm - 4:30pm. See below for photos of the room, available supplies, and projects that have been made. Some of the current projects are rugs made out of recycled jeans, quilts, and rice bag fish (which can be heated up to be used as heating pads). If you have any questions or are interested in attending, contact Alice Geelhoed (616-498-2108) or Vicki VanWingerden (616-901-2320).

  • COMMUNITY NIGHTS

Community Nights happen once a month from May - August and are open to people of all ages! These events are publicized and open to the whole congregation and our neighbors. Our hope is these consistent events will allow all of us, both at Plymouth Heights and in our neighborhood, to build deeper relationships with one another while providing everyone the opportunity to experience God and his goodness through food, fellowship, and fun!

Our next community night is Luau Night! on Wednesday, July 19, from 6pm - 8pm. Registration is preferred since it helps us purchase enough food, but not required.

  • MENTORING AT MULICK

This program pairs mentors from Fifth Reformed, Eastminster Presbyterian and Plymouth Heights churches with K-5th graders at Mulick Park Elementary School. Each mentor is paired with a student for the school year to focus on reading. This program takes place on weekday afternoons. If you would like more information on being or mentor, contact Deborah McCreary at deborah.mccreary1@gmail.com.

  • FAMILY PROMISE

The overall goal and purpose of Family Promise is to provide children and their families with shelter, basic needs and assistance as they seek permanent housing. Family Promise is unique in that it does not split up families during their crisis. Dads and boys over the age of 10 are allowed to remain with their families, keeping the family unit strong.

If you would like more information about the partnership between Family Promise and Plymouth Heights or information on how you can get involved, contact Ellen Hekman at thehekmans@gmail.com or 616-866-0610 or Jane Brouwer at jane.brouwer@icloud.com .

  • FRIENDSHIP GROUP

A dynamic relational ministry connecting people with different abilities and their families to the broader church community, while facilitating faith development through worship, education, and social opportunities. Adults and older youth are invited to serve as 1:1 mentors with the friends. To get involved contact Tom VanWingerden.

  • CROSSROADS PRISON MINISTRIES

Crossroads Prison Ministries’ mission is to connect prisoners with mentors in Christ-centered relationships so that lives, prisons and churches are restored through the Gospels.

In Grand Rapids, we can participate in Crossroads mission through volunteering at the office on 44th St. at Breton Rd, through “mentoring” (reviewing mailed Bible lessons and writing a note of encouragement), through donating, and through prayer.

For more information about this ministry, visit cpministries.org or contact Tom Brasser if you have more questions about the ministry and how to be involved.
